On July 19, 2025, for the first time, producer, director, and actress Ngo Thanh Van officially debuts a brand-new role: visual artist, with her first art fundraiser titled “INITIATION.”

This project features a collection of paintings created by Ngo Thanh Van during her pregnancy, which is a sacred and profound period of both physical and emotional transformation she experienced on her journey to motherhood. Entering the world of painting, she uses color, not as a professional form of art but as a voice to recount her personal, authentic and kaleidoscopic story. “INITIATION” is her sincere and heartfelt introduction to a new artistic path.

The injections, the pain, the sleepless nights… all became vivid material for each artwork, capturing love, maternal instinct, and the resilience of a woman stepping into motherhood in her 40s.

“Without realizing it, Van’s painting style becomes a raw and authentic expression of her inner self. She paints what she feels, letting color flow naturally and without restraint. In the world of expressionist art, the more primal the emotion and creative process, the more powerful the result. Her paintings are like mirrors she places in front of herself, reflecting her journey in the simplest, most genuine way.” — Artist Tran Trung Linh, Curator of the Painting Collection

All proceeds from the artwork sales will be donated to the Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise’s Scar of Life program, which funds life-saving heart surgeries for underprivileged children with congenital heart defects in Vietnam. Over a decade of dedicated advocacy for these children, Ngo Thanh Van has helped connect donors and spread hope to thousands of families across Vietnam. In “INITIATION”, each painting carries not only her personal imprint, but also a gentle love message for young hearts in need of healing.

Today, “INITIATION” has officially come to a close, bringing healing magic to 20 little hearts.

“Every painting in this project is part of the brave journey Van took toward motherhood. But more than that, she chose to extend this love to children in need. For us, this is more than a creative project. It is a journey of compassion, resilience, and restoration.” — Mr. Rad Kivette, Chief Consultant, Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise.
