The “First Breath of Life” program by the Vietnam Children’s Fund was created with the goal of providing essential medical equipment to hospitals and district health centers in underprivileged, remote areas, where infant mortality rates are seven times higher than in urban areas.

With an infant mortality rate of 15.07 per 1,000 live births, Da Bac District Health Center in Hoa Binh Province is one of the most challenged areas in the northern mountainous region. Each year, the health center receives more than 58,000 patient visits, despite severe shortages of medical equipment. Vietnam Children’s Fund, in collaboration with the MoMo super app, is calling for community support through campaigns like Trai Tim MoMo (MoMo Heart) and Heo Dat MoMo (MoMo Golden Pigg).

The funds raised will be used to supply 12 neonatal medical devices, including CPAP machines, neonatal warming beds, portable phlegm suction units, infusion pumps, and other critical equipment to reduce the need for patient transfers and lower infant mortality rates. The project aims to provide timely care and treatment to at least 3,000 children annually in remote districts.
