Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise’s Neonatal Care program has officially handed over 10 neonatal medical devices worth VND 200 million to Bac Ha Regional General Hospital in Lao Cai Province on November 8th, 2025.

The donation, contributed by the MoMo Super App user community, aims to enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and effective neonatal care in Vietnam’s remote and mountainous regions.

A shortage of neonatal medical equipment remains one of the biggest challenges to infant survival in rural areas. Rugged terrain and poor infrastructure make it difficult for patients, especially pregnant women and newborns to reach hospitals, while many local facilities lack the necessary tools to provide emergency treatment.

For years, Bac Ha Regional General Hospital has struggled with these difficulties. Despite serving a growing number of patients, the hospital has faced chronic shortages of essential neonatal devices. During the cold winter months, when cases of infant pneumonia surge, the hospital once had only one breathing machine – used in rotation for multiple babies, operating day and night under heavy strain and risk of breakdown.

Understanding these hardships, the Neonatal Care program, together with its partners and donors, provided essential neonatal medical equipment and organized a Neonatal Resuscitation Training Workshop for the hospital’s doctors and nurses. The training helps strengthen their professional capacity to care for and save newborns right at the local level, without having to transfer critical cases long distances.

The donated medical equipment includes a phlegm suction machine, an intubation kit, a CPAP ventilator, a five-parameter patient monitor, an infusion pump, an obstetric monitor, a pulse oximeter, two nebulizers, and an Ambu bag.

Additionally, BU Baby and Dr. Papie sponsored 100 gift sets for preterm infants during this trip.

With continued support from the MoMo Super App community, the Neonatal Care program has so far delivered 65 essential medical devices and 8 consumables and spare parts to healthcare facilities across Vietnam.

These include two medical centers in Dien Bien, Kong Chro Medical Center (Gia Lai), Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Si Ma Cai Regional General Hospital (Lao Cai), Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Da Bac Regional Medical Center (Phu Tho), and Bac Ha Regional General Hospital (Lao Cai).
