On November 18 and 19, Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise (VCF SE) collaborated with partners, localities, hospitals, departments, and sponsors to implement a free health examination for over 1,000 underprivileged children from District 8 at City Children’s Hospital. This initiative aimed to offer support, healthcare services, and educational assistance to children impacted by COVID-19, as well as those from families of laborers and workers experiencing financial difficulties in Ho Chi Minh City.
The medical examinations were conducted meticulously and scientifically, encompassing various aspects of children’s health, such as general health assessment, visual assessment, otorhinolaryngology examination, dental examination, musculoskeletal examination, and psychological health assessment. The City Children’s Hospital provides support in maintaining their medical records for long-term monitoring. If any physical or mental issues were detected, VCF SE covered the treatment expenses at the hospital. This approach has garnered significant recognition, benefiting over 4,000 children in need, including those orphaned by COVID-19 and children from financially disadvantaged families.
Implemented since November 2021, with the mission to support, protect, and empower over 2,300 orphans affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, the program is divided into 3 phases with sufficient support for the children in each period. Phase 1 completed detailed surveys for individual assessment. Phase 2 with remedial assistance was implemented in 2022. The long-term care with health and education services, Phase 3, will carry the program benefits until the children reach adulthood.
