GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The accountant performs all tasks associated with Finance and Accounting. This junior position helps keep the books, maintains records for payables and receivables, assists with budgeting, and processes approval papers for staff. The accountant is generally responsible for all tasks but assists management in doing so.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and software-related documentation.
  2. Process payrolls, prepare tax reports, submit timely filings to government authorities, engage in tax planning, prepare tax returns, and remain informed about tax regulations to enhance the business’s tax position.
  3. Maintain labor reports and fulfill all related obligations with governmental agencies to ensure compliance.
  4. Verify, harmonize, and issue daily receipts or other relevant documents to donors or partners
  5. Collaborate with the program team to update reports tracking program costs and overhead coverage compared to budgets.
  6. Support the line manager in reviewing contracts and necessary documentation for programs, proposals, donor Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and Marketing Communications/event commitments.
  7. Assist in financial analysis for developing potential programs/proposals, and reviewing program budgets and plans for relevance.
  8. Collaborate with the development team to establish funding priorities, campaigns, and strategic plans, creating budgets and cash flow projections for all managed activities.
  9. Recommend cost-saving strategies and initiatives to improve financial efficiency.
  10. Work with management to maintain optimum program staffing levels, encouraging cross-training to assist other teams during peak workload periods.
  11. Execute directives from management to handle Accounts Receivables, ensuring timely payment of Accounts Payables.
  12. Prepare financial reports, close monthly financial books, and publish reports as directed by management.
  13. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary or assigned by the line manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
  • Experience: 2-3 years in accounting or finance roles. Experience in social enterprises or non-profits is a plus.
  • Can process the reports of tax bureaus and governmental agencies efficiently.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in accounting software and other applications.
    • Knowledge of Vietnamese accounting standards and tax regulations.
    • Advanced in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in Vietnamese and English, both written and spoken.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
