Last December, Darren, a coach at Nova Fitness Retreat and a former Royal Marines Commando, took on an extraordinary challenge: completing a 120km journey across Phu Quoc Island while carrying a 30kg Dong Son drum to raise funds for children battling cancer.

On August 25, 2026, that remarkable challenge came full circle as Nova Fitness Retreat presented its donation to the KARE program of Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise, helping provide additional support for young patients receiving treatment at City Children’s Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Beyond their contribution, the Nova team also visited the hospital to spend time with the young warriors. Through joyful movement and music activitie-from simple greeting exercises to fun hand dances-the children and Nova coaches shared moments of laughter, play, and meaningful connection.

The team also prepared thoughtful gifts for 80 children receiving treatment at the Oncology Department and the Clinical Hematology Department, bringing encouragement and warmth to both the children and their families.

Vietnam Children’s Fund sincerely thanks to Nova Fitness Retreat for transforming an incredible physical challenge into meaningful support for children with cancer. From 120 kilometers along the roads of Phu Quoc to heartfelt moments shared inside the hospital, every step has helped bring more joy, positive energy, and hope to young patients throughout their treatment journey.
