After undergoing a 7-hour heart valve replacement surgery, Khanh Linh is gradually recovering and preparing to return to university.
Since birth, Khanh Linh often fell ill, frequently being hospitalized with fevers, which eventually led to the diagnosis of congenital heart disease. In 2016, she underwent her first surgery. Linh’s family belongs to the most impoverished households in their area. Her parents are humble farmers, working tirelessly under the sun, hands in the soil, simply hoping to provide enough food and clothing for the family and to send their children to school. Understanding her parents’ hardship, Linh excelled throughout her 12 years of education. Now, when she learned that she needed another surgery, the newly enrolled university student felt both anxious and disheartened due to the enormous cost her family couldn’t afford—especially since the debt from her first surgery eight years ago is still unpaid.
Fortunately, with the support of the Cardiovascular Center at E Hospital, the Scar of Life program by the Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise, and the Crossian Charity Foundation, Khanh Linh, along with three other children, had the opportunity to undergo the surgery. Our heartfelt thanks go to the generous support of Crossian Charity Foundation, who stood by these young hearts, helping them overcome adversity.
