On January 24 and 25, a free congenital heart screening program was held at Kien Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and An Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, bringing hope and timely treatment opportunities to hundreds of children in the Southwestern region of Vietnam. Vietnam Children’s Fund was honored to collaborate with University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, with generous support from sponsors Hoang Long Company and Hoang Vu Company, joining hands to care for the healthy heartbeats of Vietnamese children.

An Giang is a border province in the Southwest, where many families live in rural and remote areas with limited access to specialized healthcare services. For congenital heart disease, early detection plays a critical role, yet not all families have the means to bring their children to higher-level hospitals for screening. Bringing a team of specialist doctors directly to the local community not only helps reduce travel and financial burdens for parents, but also opens the door to a healthier start in life for children.

Through this screening program, 428 children received clinical examinations and heart ultrasounds. The results identified 13 cases of congenital heart disease, including 7 children with indications for intervention or surgery. These children will continue to be monitored, supported, and connected with appropriate treatment, giving them a greater chance to grow up healthy, attend school, and pursue their dreams.

The program extends its sincere thanks to Hoang Long Company and Hoang Vu Company for their trust, partnership, and generous support, as well as to University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City and its dedicated medical team. This meaningful collaboration has helped bring quality healthcare closer to children in remote areas and has renewed hope for many families on their journey to protect healthy heartbeats.
