In the final days of pregnancy, the joyful anticipation of welcoming their baby was suddenly overshadowed by concern when Loc’s parents were told their unborn child showed signs of a congenital heart defect. Shortly after birth, Loc developed cyanosis and was immediately transferred to the Cardiovascular Center – E Hospital for treatment. From the moment he was born, his family was only able to see him once in the delivery room. In the days that followed, they could only watch him through the glass window of the intensive care unit, waiting anxiously for updates from the medical team. After days of close monitoring, Loc was scheduled for heart surgery at just eight days old.
Since Loc’s birth, the family’s entire savings have gone toward medical expenses. His parents turned to relatives and neighbors for financial support, yet the heart surgery costs – amounting to over one hundred million VND – remained far beyond their means.
