Dong Van Regional General Hospital is located in Dong Van Commune, Tuyen Quang Province, where harsh winter conditions place newborns at high risk of hypothermia immediately after birth if not kept warm with specialized equipment. This condition can lead to metabolic disorders, respiratory distress, and life-threatening complications for infants.

The facility receives nearly 2,200 children and more than 1,000 expectant mothers each year. However, limited medical resources mean that severe pediatric cases often require transfers to higher-level hospitals. The journey can take up to 5 hours to the nearest major healthcare facility and as long as 10 hours to reach the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, through challenging mountainous terrain, increasing risks and affecting the critical “golden hour” for emergency care.

In response to this urgent need, the Neonatal Care program, by Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise, together with partners and generous donors who supported the initiative through the Tay Ho Half Marathon, came together to provide support. On May 6, the program donated seven neonatal medical devices and organized training sessions to strengthen neonatal emergency resuscitation capacity for doctors and medical staff at Dong Van Regional General Hospital.

The total sponsorship value reached VND 186 million. The donated equipment included an infant warmer, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, fetal monitor, pediatric suction machines, nebulizer, fetal Doppler, and double-sided phototherapy lamp.

Sincere thanks to all compassionate supporters who contributed to bringing a brighter beginning for newborns in mountainous communities.
