On 1 July 2026, the Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise’s Neonatal Care program, with support from the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App, handed over 12 medical devices for neonatal care and resuscitation to Tram Tau Regional Medical Center in Lao Cai Province. The total value of the support amounts to VND 200 million, including medical equipment and project assessment, hands-on training to strengthen neonatal emergency and resuscitation skills for local healthcare professionals, as well as monitoring and evaluation activities, aimed at enhancing neonatal care and resuscitation capacity in this mountainous area.

Tram Tau Regional Medical Center is located in a highland area of Lao Cai Province. Access to timely treatment for obstetric and neonatal cases remains challenging due to long distances and difficult transportation conditions.
When patients require referral to the nearest higher-level healthcare facility, they must travel nearly 30 kilometers, taking more than one hour under favorable weather conditions. During the rainy season, travel times can increase considerably, raising risks for emergency cases that require urgent medical intervention.
According to local statistics, the infant mortality rate in the area is 19.41 per 1,000 live births. This highlights the urgent need to strengthen neonatal care and resuscitation capacity at primary healthcare facilities, ensuring newborns have access to essential care during the critical first hours of life.

In response to these challenges, the Neonatal Care program has provided essential neonatal medical equipment and delivered professional training to strengthen the clinical capacity of local healthcare workers, contributing to improved neonatal care and resuscitation capacity directly at the medical center.
The donated equipment includes an emergency trolley, a five-parameter patient monitor, a suction machine, an intubation set, two resuscitation bags, two pulse oximeters SpO₂ monitors, a fetal monitor, two nebulizers, and an infusion pump.

These medical devices support healthcare professionals in monitoring the health of both mothers and newborns, providing neonatal resuscitation and emergency care, monitoring vital signs, and carrying out necessary medical interventions during the critical period immediately after birth.

Through the collective contribution of the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App, the project not only helps improve neonatal care conditions in the area but also increases access to timely treatment for high-risk newborns, reduces the burden of patient referrals, and enhances the quality of healthcare services for people living in mountainous communities.

Strengthening neonatal resuscitation capacity at the primary healthcare level is one of the key solutions to protecting newborn lives from their very first days, giving children a greater opportunity to grow up healthy and thrive in the future.
In addition, as part of this support initiative, the program was honored to receive 20 newborn clothing sets from BABU Vietnam. This marks the second consecutive year that BABU Vietnam has partnered with the Neonatal Care program in bringing warmth and comfort to newborns in remote and underserved communities from their very first days of life.
