On August 20, 2026, the Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise’s Neonatal Care program handed over 10 medical equipment to support newborn care and treatment at Trung Khanh Hospital in Cao Bang Province. Of these, four medical equipment were funded by contributions from the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App through the “Give Coins – Keep the First Breath of Life for Highland Newborns” campaign. The support aims to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to monitor and care for newborns, particularly during the critical first hours of life.

Trung Khanh Hospital is located in a border area of Cao Bang Province, where geographic conditions, weather, and transportation remain challenging, particularly during the winter. The hospital receives more than 600 births each year, including premature newborns and babies who may experience respiratory difficulties, hypothermia, or other conditions requiring close monitoring and care immediately after birth.

For newborns, especially premature babies, limited ability to regulate body temperature and adapt to their surroundings can increase the risk of hypothermia and respiratory complications in cold highland conditions. When referral to a higher-level healthcare facility is required, the journey of more than 60 kilometers can present additional challenges, particularly for cases requiring timely medical intervention.

In response to these challenges, the Neonatal Care program has provided 10 essential medical equipment to Trung Khanh Hospital, contributing to improved capacity for maternal and newborn care at the local level. Four of the devices were funded through contributions from the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App through the “Give Coins – Keep the First Breath of Life for Highland Newborns” campaign.

The donated equipment includes:

  • 01 continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine
  • 01 infant warmer with double-sided phototherapy (funded by the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App)
  • 01 fetal monitor
  • 01 infusion pump (funded by the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App)
  • 01 blood oxygen saturation monitor (SpO2) (funded by the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App)
  • 01 fetal Doppler ultrasound monitor (funded by the MoMo Piggybank Community on the MoMo Super App)
  • 01 electrocardiograph (ECG) machine
  • 02 nebulizers
  • 01 intubation kit

These medical equipment support healthcare workers in monitoring the health of mothers and newborns, maintaining newborn body temperature, providing respiratory support, monitoring blood oxygen levels, and carrying out necessary medical interventions. In particular, the CPAP machine provides non-invasive respiratory support for newborns experiencing breathing difficulties, while the infant warmer with double-sided phototherapy helps maintain body temperature and provides phototherapy support for newborn jaundice.

The additional equipment will help Trung Khanh Hospital more closely monitor mothers and newborns, identify potential complications early, and provide timely interventions when needed. This contributes to strengthening local neonatal care capacity and improving access to essential medical support for newborns during the critical first hours of life.

Strengthening equipment and newborn care capacity at local healthcare facilities is an important step toward protecting the health and lives of newborns during their first hours of life. Through these efforts, Neonatal Care continues to help children in highland communities access safer, more timely care and have a healthier start in life.
