Supporting Children After the Pandemic

According to statistics from Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, as of November 2021, the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic had left 2,324 children orphaned, having lost either one or both parents or caregivers. The unexpected loss of loved ones has caused these children tremendous emotional pain. Furthermore, for families already struggling, the economic downturn caused by the pandemic has resulted in job losses for many, thereby affecting the family's income and ability to care for their children.

Vietnam Children's Fund Social Enterprise (VCF SE) has launched a variety of actions to support children affected by the pandemic. These initiatives include free health screenings and treatment, school enrollment scholarships, and the organization of educational and recreational activities to better improve their quality of life.

The beneficiaries of the program include children orphaned due to the pandemic, children of laborers and workers facing hardship in Ho Chi Minh City. VCF SE coordinates the list of children receiving aid in partnership with government agencies such as the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and district youth unions to ensure timely and accurate outreach to those in need.

With the support of the community and philanthropists, VCF SE believes that these young individuals will continue to stride confidently into schools and grow to become valuable
